Review – Genkai Tokki Moero Chronicle

8 / 10 Banzai!s The Game: Like Tamsoft, Compile Heart is a minor Japanese developer that enjoys creating games outside the norm – and usually in the hentai circle.  Genkai Tokki Moero Chronicle (限界凸記 モエロクロニクル) is no exception. In a nutshell, the game plays like an old-school RPG, where players move through and explore “dungeons” across a grid-like pattern, battling random enemies, discovering hidden treasures, leveling-up the characters in the party, and fighting bosses.  Moero Chronicle can also be compared to the Pokemon series, in which defeating a boss enables you to place that character in your party and use …

Review – Gravity Rush

8 / 10 Banzai!s The Game: While not a launch title, Gravity Rush (known as Gravity Daze in Japan) was released only two months after the PlayStation Vita hit the shelves.  Created and directed by Keiichiro Toyama, the mastermind behind the Silent Hill and Siren series, Gravity Rush is a third-person action platformer with RPG elements, and set in a dark, Tim Burton like setting with an equally bizarre story. The game begins with a girl – later named “Kat” – waking up in a street and suffering from amnesia.  Without knowing who she is or where she came from, …

Dungeon Hunter: Alliance was first released on the PlayStation 3 back in April of 2011.  The PlayStation Vita version, however, was released as a launch title in …

7.5 / 10 Banzai!s The Game: According to rumour, Kenichiro Takaki, game producer for the wacky Tamsoft developer that brought such hentai games as Dream Club and The OneeChanbara, had decided to create a game for the Nintendo 3DS.  But what?  As Takaki thought about what he’d like to see in 3D, it took him only a few seconds to realize…boobs!  Hence, in 2011, Senran Kagura was released for the 3DS, followed by a sequel in 2012, Senran Kagura Burst. The third installment of the series, Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus (閃乱カグラ SHINOVI VERSUS) is the first to be released on …

The PlayStation 4

It took three months of waiting.  After failed attempts of arranging to ship Sony’s eighth generation console overseas, I eventually gave up and decided to be patient.  All the while, sulking as I pondered over the fact that this machine was designed and built here in Japan, yet we were the last country to see its release – by a whopping three months. Finally, the days crawled to February 22nd, and the Playstation 4 was on the shelves, awaiting only those who had reservations.  It felt like Christmas had come again, and it was all I could think about during …
